Economic Development

Strong leadership is essential to keeping our communities moving forward.

Building a Strong Foundation for Local Job Growth

The Parker County Economic Development Council was established in 2017 to bring high-wage jobs to Parker County. Also to bring continuity and collaboration to Parker County as a unified team of cities, community and business leaders.

Addressing the Workforce Imbalance

Currently, over 60% of Parker County’s workforce commutes East every day. This is a problem for several reasons. First, it takes jobs out of the County that benefits other regions outside of Parker County. Second, it compounds the traffic congestion on I-20 by putting further strain on our transportation system.

Refocusing Growth in the Right Direction

For years, Parker County has focused on more retail than light industry. From an economic development standpoint, this is not financially sustainable due to the cost/benefit of higher wage growth, or sales tax generation.  Since becoming County Judge in 2018, I have focused on bringing high-wage job opportunities while still maintaining the rural integrity of the County.

A Major Win: Wagner’s Expansion in Parker County

One of the major wins was Wagner’s who manufacturers non-corrosive bridges, in addition to an environmentally safe concrete, was recruited with a trip to Toowoomba, Australia. They are located in Cresson, Parker County and have brought in a number of high-wage jobs and have announced plans to further expand their facility.

By pursuing these opportunities, they have three major achievements for the County:

Keeping jobs local to further strengthen the local economy

Reduce the congestion on I-20 and the strain it has put on our transportation system.

Adding more value to the ground adds more revenue to the taxing entities and puts less impact on taxing homeowners.

I look forward to sharing more good news and wins for Parker County in the near future!
