Transportation

Strong leadership is essential to keeping our communities moving forward.

Regional Leadership & Strategic Planning

As a member of the Regional Transportation Council (RTC)—the transportation policy body of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG)—I work closely with regional, state, and federal partners to plan and recommend transportation projects that enhance mobility, promote efficient land use, and minimize impacts on regional air quality. The RTC, which serves as staff to the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the 12-county Dallas–Fort Worth region, is responsible for several core functions, including the Metropolitan Transportation Plan, Transportation Conformity, Transportation Improvement Program, Unified Planning Work Program, Congestion Management Process, Public Participation Plan, 10-Year Plan, and Federal Performance Measures.

Historic Investment in Parker County’s Infrastructure

I have served in this capacity for five of my seven years as County Judge of Parker County. In November 2023, we presented voters with a $130 million transportation bond—the largest in Parker County’s history. As anyone who has traveled along I-20 can attest, rapid growth has led to severe traffic congestion. When I first took office, I-20 improvements were not even included in the 15-year Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plan. Through strong collaboration and advocacy, we successfully advanced the project to a 7-year timeline, allowing sufficient time for environmental clearances and completion of access road connectivity.

The current design includes three-lane access roads on both the north and south sides of I-20, as well as expansion of the freeway to three lanes in each direction (east and west). We have secured commitments totaling more than $1.6 billion in federal and state funding, including matching funds—an unprecedented investment in the future mobility and economic vitality of our region.
